Now that you have a general idea of your likes, dislikes, and interested professions, you can kick your research up a notch! As an APUS student there are several resources provided to you through Career Services and the Student Affairs Department.

Representatives in the Office of Student Affairs can provide information regarding mentoring, networking, and various student involvement opportunities. Aside from obtaining a degree, networking and knowing the right people are essentials in today’s competitive workforce. The mission of the Office of Student Affairs is to promote and encourage student involvement as an essential component of the student experience. Students who take the opportunity to participate in university events and programs have a more enriched experience, feeling a stronger sense of community among their peers.

The Office of Career Services offers a multitude of resources at every stage of career exploration. They are able to assist students with managing progress towards career goals, developing skills to successfully find employment, researching intended fields, interview guidance, and will even help tweak your resume. The Office of Career Services provides the following additional services:

 Personalized Career Planning Assistance  Access to Job Seeking Resources

 Assistance developing and enhancing resume and cover letters

Tip: At any stage of career planning, it is recommended that you consider getting some related work experience to see if this is the direction you would like to take. Being able to actually work in a specific environment will only enhance your understanding and allow you to connect with professionals in that field!
