• The Calendar can be used by professors to post assignment due dates and important reminders about assignments. However, this tool is not required to be used by each professor.

• The Messages tool is used to send and receive personal messages from classmates and professors.

• The Forums tool is used to promote discussion and communication between you, your classmates and your professor. Most courses include Forum entries (sometimes

referred to as Discussion Board entries) as graded assignments. It is important to become familiar with this tool and to learn how to submit and respond to Forum/Discussion Board posts.

• Through the Chat Room , you can chat in real-time with your professor and/or classmates should they happen to be in the chat room at the same time as you. This is a great tool to use when working on group projects; but keep in mind that your classmates might not be in the same time zone as you!
