If you are using Federal Student Aid (FSA) to pay for your courses, there are some very important tips to be aware of. How FSA is tracked at APUS is different than other institutions.

If you are using Federal Student Aid (FSA) to pay for courses you must follow an academic calendar that consists of an ‘Academic Year’ and two ‘Academic Semesters.’ The Academic Year is defined as 32

consecutive weeks of instructional time and the academic semester is two 16-week period of instructional time.

Tips for registering for courses:

• All courses taken must fit within the start and end dates of the Academic Semester

o Courses cannot start before, end after, or overlap between the semesters

o Not all courses have to have the same start month

• You should plan to register for all your courses prior to the start month
